Matt Feeney's lame Slate article on Desperate Housewives is just too laborious for me to finish reading. He takes issue with the show's smug, superior, sneering tone -- but that's part of the whole soap-opera spoof genre, which began with "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman." The pleasure of watching it is that it sabotages a very, very easy target.
