The Nickelodeon replies:

"Hi Rodney, Thanks for your note. The film selection committee usually does not consider films until they are in release because we are considered by distributors to be a tertiary market and we usually cannot get the films as soon as they come out. The committee meets about two months before each calendar. The Aristocrats is on the short list of films to be discussed for the November/December calendar."

My reply: I'm glad it's on the short list.
Hope I'm still interested.
It's intriguing to me however that in the upcoming quarter you're showing both "Murderball" and Ingmar Bergman's "Saraband," released mere weeks before "The Aristocrats." So far as I can tell, the premiere for "Murderball" was June 28, the premiere for "Saraband" was July 7, and the premiere for "The Aristocrats" was July 20.

If the committee met two months before the latest calendar, which came out last week, then they met right as "Murderball" debuted and before "Saraband" was even out.

It seems they were smart enough to get those -- for which I'm grateful -- but not smart enough to snag "The Aristocrats." Did anyone even pipe up and say anything about it?

The continuing problem I have when I look at the Nick calendar is that it is out of touch. It doesn't seem all that with-it. The selections often seemed to be picked at random without anyone really knowing what's going on.

Having said that, I'm overjoyed at least someone knew it might be worth screening Ingmar Bergman's first film in an ice age.

Anyway, glad to know all three will be available. Here in Flyover Country, I guess we should count our blessings.

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for your note. The film selection committee usually does not consider

be a tertiary market and we usually cannot get the films as soon as they
come out. The committee meets about two months before each calendar. The
Aristocrats is on the short list of films to be discussed for the

The one movie everyone is talking about -- the one great cause celebre of
the season -- the one movie I was totally expecting the Nickelodeon to
screen because no one else will ... and what do I get instead? The usual
pile of feel-good international piffle.

I wish sometimes the screening committee would stopped being so damned
multi-cultural and start showing movies that are significant, and not merely
foreign.

Damn.
