My Free Times articles on the latest Orphan Film Symposium.

Somrething I didn't have room to say: Edgar G. Ulmer, whose public health film They Do Come Back will be screened at this year's Symposium, was on the rise at Universal in the 1930s when he had an affair with the wife of an executive. The two got married and he was blackballed -- hence the years of scrabbling to make a living, taking whatever was available, presumably including his work for the National Tuberculosis Association.
