Question of the Day: Why did this lame, brainless, adolescent piece of swill get the coverage it did?
I read the New York Press on line regularly -- mainly for Armond White -- and the satires have always been distinguished by two things: crudity and witlessness, of which Matt Taibbi's "The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope" is merely typical. A mere scan tells you that much; I can't fathom why anyone endures the whole article.
It has not resulted in the resignation of editor Jeff Koyen, who left calling the publisher a spineless weenie, and proclaiming that Taibbi's article was "a well-reasoned political argument." (Now that's funny.)
The spineless weenie this afternoon said Koyen was canned for insubordination.
Why do I post shit like this?
Who cares?
Is it because fake controversies offend me at some personal level?
