I've never met David Axe, but he is a writer who has long been associated with the Free-Times. He is the author of the only vanity-press book I think I've ever reviewed, and it was actually pretty good. Some weeks ago, he managed he managed to get into Iraq; I forget how, though obviously not on the Free Times' dime, although he has managed since to print some dispatches from there. This week, I'm happy to report, he appears to have made it to the front or near the front of The Village Voice. Congrats, wherever you are.
