What I Can't Stop Listening To: "Goofin' Off" by Macy Skipper. A freewheeling, spur-of-the-moment classic of nutball whimsey, dating from around 1962, so far as I can figure. For three delirious minutes, Skipper and his pal Horsefly (who sounds as if he doesn't have anymore brains than he does teeth) let fly with unashamed silliness as a party band romps along in the background. A one-of-a-kind R&B classic -- or as Horsefly might put it, the only way you can beat, man, is with a stick.
