Susan Sontag

is one of those writers who are a lot more interesting to read about than to read.

Dana Heller paints a riveting portrait of what it's like to get into a death-match with the Red Queen, who "held a mirror to my immense desire to influence the bookish, cerebral world that I have always longed to be a part of, and at the same time showed me my equally immense capacity to be crushed by that longing."
