Maybe it's just my own Pynchonesque paranoia, but doesn't the lead sentence of this Washington Post review of Against the Day sound just a wee bit like the lead of this old review of Mason & Dixon?

Well, that's the breaks.

The latter reviewer will have his say on the new Pynchon, soon. He's on page 695, and he was interrupted by a stupid book about the Rolling Stones, but he's still quite absorbed in the whole quaternion adventure and taking notes he can barely understand. Only this time he's thinking of comparing it to a supernova.
