Cronenberg on Dostoevsky

Film Director David Cronenberg says of Demons: "It is like a transparent egg in which one can see the Stalinist era preparing to hatch." That's a near-perfect description. I think it's one of the most prescient novels ever written. As those bodies pile up at the end, it's as if you see the events of the Russian Revolution in all their relentless savagery.
